Background

Dr. Karl Vance is a board certified dermatologist and specialty trained in Mohs surgeon for the treatment of cutaneous malignancies, including advanced surgical reconstruction techniques.  His advanced training in the surgical treatment of skin cancer was completed in 2014 at the University of Minnesota during his fellowship in procedural dermatology and cosmetic dermatology. The cosmetic focus placed particular emphasis on the use of lasers and other energy based modalities for the treatment of aging skin.

With Dr. Vance’s advanced training in surgical treatment of skin cancer and cosmetic dermatology, he is able to tailor treatments to patients’ unique needs and preferences, including non-surgical treatment options.

Dr. Vance has contributed to several dermatological publications and has received two awards from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

Dr. Vance is a native of the Twin Cities.  He received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Stanford University in 2002.  Before returning to his studies, he used this training in the wine industry for a few years.  He then attended and became a 4th generation graduate of the University of Colorado medical school in 2009.  His post-graduate medical education included an internship in internal medicine at the University of Hawaii in 2010, and a dermatology residency at the University of Illinois, Chicago that he completed in 2013.

He is currently accepting new patients for general dermatology, cosmetic dermatology and skin cancer treatment.
